“Sick Joke!” Kourtney Kardashian Slammed For ‘Sustainable’ Collab With Fast Fashion Brand Boohoo

Kourtney Kardashian has announced she’s become the sustainable ambassador for fast fashion brand BooHoo and the internet is not impressed.

Kardashian will also be releasing her own collection with the brand. In an effort to ironically promote her new role as the queen of sustainability, she’ll be trying to sell more clothes. An interesting choice.

So why is everyone so upset? Well, quite simply because Boohoo has a long history of being slammed for being very unsustainable.

In 2019 the brand was named one of the least sustainable fashion brands by the UK’s Parliament’s Environmental Audit Committee, and it was also discovered in 2020 that it was paying workers in Leicester $3.50 an hour.

However, Boohoo hasn’t since turned over a new leaf. The Guardian reported that in 2021 Labour Behind The Label, ShareAction, and The Business And Human Rights Resource Centre joined forces to declare that Boohoo hadn’t made any meaningful changes.

The organisations attributed, “low prices paid by Boohoo, and its encouragement of price competition among suppliers and demand for short order times” as “drivers for illegally low wage payments and poor working conditions.”

And now, Kourtney Kardashian has jumped on board as the sustainable ambassador and has claimed she’ll be sharing, “actional tips with consumers on how they can play their own part,” to be more sustainable. Of course, the most sustainable thing to do would be to stop buying from and supporting brands like Boohoo.

Now, Boohoo perhaps has restructured its practices since 2021, but the internet isn’t happy with Kourtney Kardashian jumping on board with a brand that has yet to prove itself sustainable.

Basically, the internet is unhappy!

It will be interesting to see if Kourtney Kardashian responds to these claims.
