P&G Moves Media Account From Mediacom To Starcom

P&G has moved its Australian media account from GroupM-owned Mediacom to Publicis Media’s Starcom.

While news of the handover only came to light this morning, B&T understands the move was finalised several weeks ago.

GroupM has declined to comment on the move, as has Starcom.

In a statement provided to B&T, P&G said, “P&G Australia & New Zealand has appointed Starcom, part of Publicis Media, to be our media agency effective October 2018.

“We would like to recognise and thank Mediacom for their contribution to our brands.

“At P&G, our aim is to bring the world’s best product innovation and value to Australian consumers. Our media executions are vital for increasing consumer awareness, consideration and trial.”

B&T has contacted P&G for comment.

It follows the appointment of Vivek Gupta as the new managing director and vice president for Australia and New Zealand in March.

Formerly sales director at P&G, Gupta assumed the role at the start of April, taking leadership of the company’s selling and market operations in Australia & New Zealand.

He succeeded Antoine Brun, who returned to Europe to lead P&G’s Southeast Europe business unit.

Commenting on his new role at the time of the announcement, Gupta said he is passionate about the company’s strong foundations of innovation and category leadership.

“We aim to be the innovation leaders of our industry and feel it’s our responsibility to market the most superior products that improve consumers’ lives, and to work with our retailer partners to create total category growth,” he said.

“At P&G, we have a team of highly-dedicated expert leaders with a strong momentum of results. I am honoured to be leading this team and look forward to contributing to even greater future success.”
