McCann Melbourne Recruits GPY&R’s Anita Deutsch-Burley As Executive Director

McCann Australia has appointed Anita Deutsch-Burley to the post of executive director of McCann Melbourne following 12 months of significant growth.

Deutsch-Burley will lead the McCann Melbourne team that manages L’Oreal, Metro, Bendigo, Vic Gambling, WorkSafe, City of Melbourne and all Government business. She was most recently group account director at George Patterson Y&R Melbourne and replaces Jaclyn Currie, who has moved to McCann New York as SVP executive account director on the L’Oreal Paris account.

Prior to GPY&R, Deutsch-Burley also spent time at Proximity and Clemenger BBDO, as well as working on client-side at Jetstar, Yellow Pages & SCA Hygiene Australasia. She brings a wealth of expertise in integrated marketing, digital strategy and brand development among other skills.

McCann managing director Adrian Mills said:“We’ve been patiently trying to find the right replacement for the role Jack left to take up her position in New York. In Anita we have a stand-out talent who brings with her a strong digital, direct and brand building background alongside some significant client-side experience.

“Her enthusiasm and manner make her unmissable and her strategic leadership and intense intellect are unmistakable. Anita is the absolute embodiment of our ‘only the best’ hiring policy and we are genuinely honoured to have her on board.”

In the past 12 months the agency has seen significant growth on the back of new business wins that include AGL Energy, Australian Unity and the University of Melbourne.

Deutsch-Burley said: “I am thrilled to be working with Adrian and the talented team at McCann. I have been really impressed with the strength of their strategic and creative offering and look forward to creating some exciting work for this wonderful group of clients.”

McCann is currently the top-ranked Australian agency in the WARC Top 100 and recently took home two Cannes Lions for its Infrequent Flyers campaign for Tigerair.
