Google Makes Finding Deals And Promos Easier In Search

Google is rolling out new shopping features designed to help users find better deals on products they’re thinking about buying.

When searching for a product on Google, users will see a promotion badge on items in search results. Users will be told, for example, that they could save 15 per cent with coupon code “HOLIDAYS.”

A new coupon clipping feature will also make it easy to copy promo codes when ready to buy. These features will “roll out in the coming weeks.”

Shoppers will also be able to compare deals side-by-side. For example, if a user searches for a new puffer coat, Google will show them side-by-side comparisons of puffer coat deals. The feature will be coming to the US this month.

Finally, a new price insights tool will show users whether that deal they’re looking at will actually save them money. Users will be able to see how one merchant’s price compares to another on the same product and whether the price is low, typical, or high.

This could have huge potential impacts for some smart brands. Ensuring regular deals could help push users over the edge for a purchase. However, being able to outsmart competitor retailers will require a lot of effort.
