Some 55 per cent of Americans have received both doses of the COVID vaccine while, worryingly, about a third remain unvaccinated with cases again on the rise.
So, who better to entice nervous Americans to get the jab than the rather un-PC team at Family Guy.
Creators of the legendary cartoon have debuted a three-minute, 30-second pro-vax PSA on the Jimmy Kimmel Show that stars all the show’s chief characters – Peter, Brian, Stewie and Meg – that explains to a hesitant Peter the merits of vaccines all while taking place in his lower intestine.
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane joining Kimmel to debut the short film.
The riotous video shows Peter being concerned about getting the jab from his doctor. He asks the GP how it works, who replied: “Think of the vaccine as a large ethnic bouncer, and COVID as the drunk, entitled white kid yelling ‘Do you know who my father is?’”
There’s also a wonderful dig at actress Gal Gadot singing John Lennon’s Imagine last year in a somewhat ham-fisted attempt to encourage people to get vaccinated.
It’s not only great fun, but explains the complexity of vaccines and epidemiology in a really simple, straight forward manner that anyone can understand. Check out the fun below:
