Christian O’Connell Contracts COVID-19, As Karl Stefonovic Declares His Already Battled The Virus

Radio host, Christian O’Connell has contracted COVID.19 and won’t be returning to the airwaves as planned.

O’Connell is currently the host of GOLD FM’s Melbourne Breakfast Show a show that has been getting more buzz although the ratings do tend to ebb and flow a bit.

However, O’Connell shared on Instagram yesterday that he wouldn’t be returning to his show on Monday as scheduled after summer break due to being infected with COVID-19.

O’Connell wrote: “I’m not going to be quite right to do the show tomorrow morning. I’m sorry and pissed off. Seven days in ISO and three days with Covid isn’t a fun hang.

“I’m banished to the bedroom, meals left outside the door. Which is great so the dogs get the chance to tuck in first.”

O’Connell did share he hoped to be back on air by Tuesday, writing, “Tuesday has my name all over it.”

However, O’Connell isn’t the only host that has been struck down by the virus. Karl Stefanovic returned to The Today Show this morning and shared he’d contracted COVID-19 over the holiday break.

According to The Daily Mail, Stefanovic said: “I am a little croaky. The last couple of weeks, going back to January 3 or 4, the whole family tested positive.

“The whole family went down with Covid-19. It was a bit awful to tell you the truth at times, but we’re all clear now.

“We got through the whole thing, and look, they say it’s mild, but it’s pretty intense in parts.”

Thankfully Stefanovic seems to be making a full recovery and  O’Connell will be back on the air soon, but this new Omicorn variant isn’t even sparing our beloved hosts!

Here at B&T, we can only pray Tracey Grimshaw is being extra cautious.
