Nine’s Allison Langdon’s well-deserved nap was captured on camera after she completed 14 hours straight of live telly Queen coverage.
Clearly, the rigorous workload has taken a toll on Langdon, who was spotted napping on Today producer Will Hutchinson. She used a rolled-up jumper as a pillow, and the moment was captured thanks to the rolling cameras.
Hutchinson then posted the photo on his Instagram, and Langdon reposted the image on her personal Instagram and jokingly wrote, “Hour 14, everything is fine!”
Langdon and her co-host Karl Stefanovic took a huge 14-hour shift so they could both cover every minute of the Queen’s funeral, and understandably Langon was missing her sleep.
It’s no secret that journalists have been working around the clock since the Queen passed away. Covering everything from her funeral to any Royal public outing.
Langdon’s hard work has been noted, though, because Nine’s Director of News and Current Affairs at Nine, Darren Wick, sent an email to staff praising them for their efforts and gave a particularly big shoutout to Langdon’s show Today.
He wrote: “It’s been a marathon for our teams on the ground and back in our studios. TODAY, NEWS, ACA and 60 MINUTES all battled the challenges of time zones, technical problems, weather, and flying to the other side of the world.
“As I write this email, TODAY is only just coming off the air. The team has been broadcasting to Australia since 5 am YESTERDAY morning. They’ve only had very short breaks for sleep – if they got any at all. That’s a spell of almost 30 hours.
“You guys are awesome!”
