Simon Ryan moves into prime position at post-Harold Mitchell Aegis

Aegis has announced that current managing director at Carat Melbourne has been promoted to the new role of CEO for Carat across ANZ, where he will manage a sizable expansion of the agency.

It’s the first significant move by media buying giant Aegis Media following the announcement that Harold Mitchell was to retire last month.

Ryan (pictured) has been managing director of Carat Melbourne for the past four years, and will continue to work closely with Melbourne staff and clients, whilst expanding his focus across ANZ, according to the agency.

Ryan was appointed managing director of the Melbourne oepration in October 2009 after being general manager of Mediacom Australia for six years.

Luke Littlefield, CEO of Aegis Media ANZ, said:  “Simon is an outstanding talent in our business and industry and I am pleased to elevate his responsibility into a national and trans-Tasman role for Carat.”

“Through his leadership, Carat Melbourne works with a number of the leading brands in Australia, delivering them exceptional campaigns, and as an agency has consistently achieved growth well above the market. Simon is one of the media industry’s strongest strategic thinkers and all of Carat’s staff, clients and media partners will now benefit from his leadership in this new role.”

Ryan added: “I’m delighted to take on this role and look forward to working with the talented teams that Carat has throughout Australia and New Zealand. I am focused on continuing this agency’s great reputation for a strong culture, brave thinking and achieving amazing results for our clients.”

Carat is one of the world’s leading media agencies, ranked No.1 by RECMA last year, with more than 290 staff across four offices locally, with clients in ANZ including Holden, Disney, Woolworths, David Jones, Kraft/Mondelez and Mattel.
