Meta’s Jim Squires Jumps Ship For Reddit EVP Business Marketing & Advertiser Growth Role
Reddit has appointed Jim Squires to lead its newly combined Business Marketing and Growth functions where he will continue the company’s efforts to boost its ads offering.
Squires had spent 14 years within the Meta family of businesses, beginning as the director of product marketing – monetisation at Facebook, before moving to Instagram where he rose to VP business and media and then moving to be Meta’s overall VP of product marketing.
“In my conversations with the team at Reddit, I have been so impressed with the future potential of our Ads Business, and I firmly believe our best days are ahead,” said Jim Squires.
“While there are countless businesses already benefiting from Reddit’s highly differentiated value, there are still so many that have yet to discover the power of Reddit, which brings huge opportunity. What excites me about this role is creating and demonstrating this tremendous value for brands of all sizes, around the world, and helping them achieve their goals.”
Reddit is looking to expand its active advertiser market to more than 40 countries and said that its ads product roadmap for this year was its “most ambitious plan yet” promising “depth and breadth” and delivering a “best-in-class experience for a more diverse set of partners.”
Roxy Young, meanwhile, Reddit’s CMO is “evolving” her role. Having previously reported to Jen Wong and lead Reddit’s Business Marketing and Ads Product Marketing teams, Young will now report directly to CEO Steve Huffman and oversee Community, Communications, and Creative at Reddit.
This is a new, standalone organization dubbed “CX” by the company. Young will assume a new title as Reddit’s chief marketing and consumer experience officer.
“Community-driven marketing is the new era of our industry and Reddit has long taken the lead in this space, but now is the time to accelerate further. Educating, enabling and elevating Reddit’s communities is core to reaching our next wave of users and brand partners,” said Young.
“We’ve always been somewhat of a challenger brand, and I’m excited to redefine what marketing means at Reddit and unlock new ways to welcome people into our community beyond traditional marketing channels and strategies.”
