Nova’s Ben And Liam Reveal Mural Dedicated To South Australian Icons

Nova 919’s Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton have paid tribute to Adelaide’s landmarks, icons and personalities by commissioning a respected local artist to paint the most South Australian mural ever Ben & Liam’s Adelaide Icons Mural.

To launch this special tribute to Adelaide, Harvey and Stapleton broadcast live from the Elizabeth City Centre, the new home of the Adelaide Icons Mural, between 6am and 9am today, with the SA Premier Peter Malinauskas officially cutting the ribbon at 8:30am.

South Aussies are passionate about their home state and in another bucket list moment for Harvey and Stapleton, the co-hosts commissioned local artist Mike Sander to create a mural that would pay homage to the iconic people, places and things that make South Australia great.

The mural features a number of South Australian icons – the Farmer’s Union Iced Coffee, the Big Rocking Horse, the Scottie statute (without Harvey and Stapleton’s infamous googly eyes), the Malls Balls and the Pigeon, our great giant panda’s Wang and Funi and much more.

In addition, the mural will feature two of South Australia’s most iconic personalities, Channel Seven newsreader Jane Doyle and Olympic Gold Medallist Kyle Chalmers. Jane Doyle was on site for the official opening of the mural.

Having grown up in the area, Ben Harvey said: “Liam and both I grew up in the Northern Suburbs – I was in Two Wells and Liam in Golden Grove. I used to go there multiple times a week and spent so much time at the centre that I couldn’t think of a better spot for our Adelaide Icons Mural.”

Liam Stapleton added: “People from Adelaide are so passionate about the icons and people that make our state great. We’re so thrilled to have helped create something that South Australians can come and visit and enjoy.”

The Adelaide Icons Mural is located on the eastern wall of the Elizabeth City Centre, with the official launch of this iconic landmark at 8.30am on Friday 16 September.
