Tech giant Apple is on the verge of unveiling the latest devices in its iPhone series and reportedly, they could be coming with a highly desired feature among users.

Based on Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new phones will come with an always-on function. This has been something that other phones have offered for a while now and many iPhone users have wanted this availability yet despite the many new updates to the iOS system, it never came.

Now, with iOS 16 just around the corner, it appears that they’ll finally have their wishes fulfilled and their phones display will remain bright even when they aren’t using their devices. That way, their main screens will always be visible to them and the people around them. showing the time, date, any new notifications they might have and a small amount of additional information.

The Bloomberg report also states that the frame rate on the always-on screen will be significantly reduced so that it doesn’t use up so much battery, in a similar way to the Apple Watch Series 5. It’s also possible that the new phone’s screen may come with the same low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) display as the new watches, although that has yet to be fully confirmed. The new iPhones are also said to come with brand new wallpapers which have “widget-like-capabilities”.

Apart from the alleged “always-on lock screen”, the iOS 16 update is said to bring a number of new changes and additions to all available Apple devices, such as the ability to reduce window sizes. However, in order to confirm the validity of these reports, users will need to wait a few more days until June 6th and the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) where the US tech giant is set to lift the veil on its new products and system upgrades.
