Broadsheet Media has bolstered its sales and partnerships team with two senior promotions following a stream of new client wins and a significant growth period for the independent Australian publisher.

Christina Voss and Michila Macleod take on new leadership roles as part of the senior leadership team, led by general manager Sian Whitaker.

Christina Voss returns to Broadsheet after 12 months of maternity leave to a newly created role as strategy and solutions director, which will be part of the commercial team and will report to Whitaker. She will oversee creative responses and will work closely with all internal departments and the senior leadership team to identify new commercial opportunities and lead the strategic direction. Voss’s remit is to identify and develop new revenue streams for Broadsheet outside of the current ecosystem, including new content verticals, off-platform events/activations and new strategic partnerships with other media owners.

Michila Macleod has been appointed the national sales and partnerships director, a role she filled while Voss was on maternity leave. Prior to Broadsheet, Macleod was the head of digital – Vic, at Bauer Media. During the last 12 months, Broadsheet has grown the sales and partnerships team by 66% with a string of new hires.

Sian Whitaker said of the appointments, “Supporting female talent is central to our values and culture at Broadsheet, and I’m proud to lead a senior leadership team that is 70% female. By adopting a flexible and collaborative approach linked to business objectives, we have retained two high performers with senior leadership roles”.

“We are excited to welcome Christina back to Broadsheet to lead our creative solutions team. This is the perfect role for her; she has a brilliant mind and is a big part of our team culture. There is more demand than ever before from clients who want to partner with us differently, so we are investing in this capability to ensure we can keep up with the demand.”

“I’m equally pleased that Michila is now a permanent member of the Broadsheet team. She joined Broadsheet 12 months ago on a maternity leave contract and has proven herself invaluable, making a significant impact in the business during that short time. We have achieved our biggest revenue targets on record, and Michila has played a significant role in leading our exceptional sales team”.

Voss said of her new role, “I am thrilled to be returning to Broadsheet in this new role and to be given the opportunity to lead a team and area of the business that I have always been passionate about. Over my time at Broadsheet, I have seen the business grow exponentially, and I look forward to continuing to be part of that growth by identifying and developing new opportunities and strengthening the creative solutions we deliver for our commercial clients.”

Macleod commented, “Broadsheet is one of the most inspiring and innovative businesses I’ve had the opportunity to work with. The collective passion we share for the brand and our audience is core to our continued commercial success. It’s been such a privilege to lead this high-performing team for the past 12 months, and I look forward to continuing our growth journey together.”

Broadsheet was launched in 2009 by founder and director Nick Shelton. For over a decade, Broadsheet has helped Australians discover and experience what makes their cities and communities tick. These latest promotions come after a significant growth period for the independent publisher and the launch of the membership program Broadsheet Access, Broadsheet Wine, and Broadsheet Cookbooks.
