Enigma Appoints Karl Bates As New Executive Strategy Director

    Enigma, an independent Australian media agency, today announced the appointment of Karl Bates as its new executive strategy director.

    With more than 15 years of management, agency, and client skills to offer, Bates joins Enigma following a three-year stint with creative agency Innocean.

    He has prior experiences with automotive, FMCG, finance, telecommunications, technology, and government.

    In his new role, which is effective immediately, Bates will be responsible for leading strategy across the Enigmas’ entire portfolio of clients, where his creativity, focus, and results-driven approach will assist the company to no end.

    Commenting on the appointment, Enigma founder and director Lisa Sutton Gardner said: “Karl’s passion is rolling his sleeves up for clients and creating from scratch. He’s a highly experienced strategist
    and is well-respected across the industry”

    Bates has previously worked with BWM Detsu to deliver successful campaigns for such brands as Toyota, BOQ, Babylove and the Garvan Institute.

    He also founded German agency D-Office, working with clients like Swatch, adidas and Levi Strauss Europe, and has also worked in planning roles for several UK and German-based agencies.

    Speaking on the new opportunity, Bates said: “I’m excited to join Lisa and the Enigma team and work in a fully integrated agency with creative, media and brand under one roof. Enigma’s reputation for delivering highly awarded, effective advertising was a key attraction, along with its commitment to offering world-class design.”
