Channel Seven already know the source of the leak of the now infamous footage of Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor calling Novak Djokovic, “a lying, sneaky asshole.”

The leak happened on Tuesday and by today they’ve basically solved the case.

Yesterday, Seven’s network director of news and public affairs, Craig McPherson said in a statement given to B&T: “The illegal recording was of a private conversation between two colleagues.

“It was an underhanded, cowardly act in breach of the Victorian Listening Devices legislation, the perpetrator of which will be accordingly dealt with when found.”

Basically, McPherson made it clear that Seven was not going to take this lightly and the network has already proved they aren’t pulling any punches because according to The Australian, it has already narrowed it down enough to know the leak came from a captioning service allegedly Ai Media.

So they may know where it came from but not the who – yet.

Who doesn’t love an unsolved mystery? Remember when everyone in Australia went nuts over the Teachers Pet Podcast? Well, now we can all obsess over who leaked on Maddern and Amor.

Although it doesn’t look like we will have to resort to online sleuthing or starting a podcast because Seven seems to be all over it.

Surely more details will be revealed soon. Though it does seem like it wasn’t an inside job.

The leaked footage of the newsreaders calling out Djokovic and his never-ending visa drama went viral and made international news.

However, while the intention may have been to embarrass Maddern and Amor they’ve been gaining a ton of praise online. I mean calling someone “a sneaky asshole” does somehow seem oddly Australian of them.

Also, it’s interesting timing that as soon as Maddern returns to Seven after her time at Nine, she’s the victim of a leak. Perhaps someone isn’t happy she’s back? The plot thickens.

Either way, the story has garnered so much international attention that it’s managed to reach shock jock Howard Stern’s ears.

Indy100 has reported that Stern said, “That fu$knut Djokovic – the Joker. I call him the Joker. What a f****** a******.

“The first I heard of this guy is that he doesn’t want to get his vaccine. And he’s running around… they should throw him right the f*** out of tennis. That’s it. Goodbye.”

This makes Maddern’s and Amor’s reactions seem pretty mild – perspective people!

Either way, there’s no doubt that this story isn’t over yet but here at B&T we also think Maddern and Amor might just deserve this year’s, Gold Logie.
