Apple fanatics will soon be able to get their hands on new devices, with the tech giant launching four iPhone 13 models, a new iPad, iPad mini and Apple Watch overnight.

Headlining the updates is the new iPhone 13, which will go on sale in Australia next week.

While many had speculated that the new iPhone would be ‘notchless’, the iPhone 13 has kept the notch at the top of the screen, albeit making it 20 per cent smaller than previous models.

There are also improvements to the screen quality, camera and battery life.

And while on the surface the iPhone 13 might look rather similar to the iPhone 12, the biggest change is under the hood.

A new A15 bionic chip with a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU and 15 billion transistors means the iPhone 13 is the most powerful yet.

Like previous years, there will also be other models of the new device on sale, with an iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max all joining the flagship device.

There are also some new colours debuting this year for iPhone users looking to brighten up their phone usage.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini will be available in Product(Red), starlight, midnight, blue, and pink. Meanwhile, the Pro and Pro Max will come in graphite, gold, silver, and sierra blue.

And while there had been rumours that supply issues might result in a price hike for consumers, the iPhone 13 models on Apple Australia’s website are the same as they were last year for the iPhone 12.

The prices for the new iPhone models are as follows:

  • iPhone 13 mini (128GB) RRP $1199
  • iPhone 13 (128GB) RRP $1349
  • iPhone 13 Pro (128GB) RRP $1699
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max (128GB) RRP $1849

The ‘California Streaming’ live event also saw the introduction of a new and improved Apple Watch series 7, which has a slightly more rounded look than previous models and better battery life, as well as an all-new iPad Mini which has 5G, USB-C, and larger 8.3-inch display.

An advertising bonanza

The star of the show at any technology launch event is always going to be the new products, however, Apple’s marketing team certainly deserves a pat on the back.

On Twitter, Apple had users in raptures after it managed to add its logo to the like button.

Apple has also released a few stunning pieces of creative to coincide with the launch of its new products, perhaps none better than ‘Whodunnit’.

With the iPhone 13 now capable of shooting in cinematic mode, Apple has decided to make somewhat of a short film to showcase the new capabilities. You can see it here.
