Since launching Apple TV+ in 2019, Apple has been using its streaming service not only as a way to showcase original content, but also as an opportunity to highlight its range of technology.
The Morning Show, which starred Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, had Apple products visible in approximately one-third of all shots across the entire series, according to The Wall Street Journal.
And now Apple’s latest hit show Ted Lasso is also causing discussion about some Apple product placement.
As iPhone fanatics eagerly wait the September release of the newest iPhone, some suspect that Ted Lasso may have given an advanced screening.
Eagle-eyed viewers spotted a notchless iPhone in Ted Lasso season two, episode six.
The iPhone also appears to be running iOS, suggesting it is an Apple device.
Of course, existing iPhone models all come with various ‘notches’, leaving many to suspect the Ted Lasso phone could in fact be an iPhone 13.
With Apple continuing to make small modifications to iPhones each year, many expect the upcoming iPhone to get rid of notches for good.
According to macrumors, the notchless iPhone theory is not quite right.
“The idea that Apple would reveal an unannounced flagship product in a pre-recorded show is certainly a tantalizing prospect, but it’s a tenuous theory at best. TV shows routinely apply artificial overlays onto digital displays in post-production in order to make their contents clearer for viewers to see – in this case, an iOS Lock Screen,” the website said.
Macrumors also cited a tip from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the iPhone 13 will continue to have a notch, albeit slightly smaller than previous models.
Kuo predicted Apple to finally ditch the notch when it releases the iPhone 14, which will likely be next year.
All will be revealed soon, with Apple expected to launch the iPhone 13 on September 14.
