Hamish & Andy Oust Kyle & Jackie O From Top Three Most Popular Podcasts

Triton Digital has released its monthly rankings of the top 100 most popular Australia podcasts, revealing several new entries to the list, a few movers and shakers, and a cautionary tale (or two).

Audioboom’s Casefile True Crime again takes home the bacon as Australia’s most popular podcast for March after releasing five episodes during the recording period.

Second place remains unchanged with ARN and iHeartMedia’s Stuff You Should Know taking that spot with nearly four times as many episodes released as Casefile at 19.

However, SCA – LiSTNR’s Hamish & Andy moved up three places to third with five episodes released, booting ARN and iHeartMedia’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show back to fourth.

That’s despite the show releasing 107 episodes during the recording period.

The biggest positive in the top 100 was SCA’s Triple M Footy AFL, which moved up 61 places after releasing 62 new podcast episodes during the reporting period.

On the flip side, Wondery’s The Apology Line was the biggest mover down the ladder, dropping 58 places with two episodes released during March.

Proving that a bombardment of content isn’t always a successful strategy, SCA’s Carrie & Tommy dropped four places to 65th on the All-Australian leader board, despite releasing 324 new episodes.

A few podcasts made their debut, including Nine’s The Sure Thing in the All-Australian top 100, and ARN and iHeartMedia’s Cautionary Tales in the overall top 100, with both appearing at 16th and 83rd on their lists respectively.

On the All-Australian ranker specifically, new podcasts include Diamantina’s Outspoken the Podcast, News Corp Australia’s Something To Talk About with Samantha Armytage, and SCA – LiSTNR’s Unlock The Greatness Within.

Casefile True Crime remained in top spot as the most downloaded Australian podcast in the country. While Hamish & Andy picked up second place on the All-Australian rankings, followed by The Kyle & Jackie O Show at third.

In terms of the publishers’ share of the market, ARN and iHeartMedia welcomed the highest number of monthly downloads with more than 12.8 million from 389 active podcasts, followed by SCA at 7.8 million from 389 active podcasts, and Audioboom at 5.05 million from 275 active podcasts.
