R/GA Names Justice Reform Activist Ashish Prashar Global CMO

R/GO has named Ashish Prashar their new Global Chief Marketing Officer. He will begin his role on March 2nd.

Prashar was previously Global Communications leader at Publicis Sapient.

Before his work at Publicis Sapient, he was a political communications strategist who most recently worked with the Vice-Chair of the Democratic National Committee for Joe Biden’s 2020 Presidential Election. He was also a campaign press secretary to former Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

Prashar is a justice reform activist. He was formerly incarcerated, and has gone on to create a number of programs for incarcerated peoples, as well as campaigned for bail reform, ending solitary confinement and the restoration of voting rights.

He has appeared as a commentator on ABC, Business Insider, CNN, Fast Company, NBC, and USA Today.

In his new role, Prashar will oversee the global marketing function for R/GA, and will be responsible for market strategy, brand, and corporate communications. He will also join the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Sean Lyons.

“Why didn’t someone introduce me to Ash sooner?! We connected immediately. Ash brings over fifteen years of experience to R/GA and is brilliant at finding the stories in the work and in the people,” said Lyons.

“Our agency, industry, and society have shifted tremendously over the past year. Ash’s thoughtful, strategic advocacy and service to others make him an ideal shepherd of our values and our purpose of helping clients design businesses and brands for a more human future.”

Outside of his professional role in R/GA, Prashar is deeply committed to ensuring fair treatment of people impacted by the justice system and advancing prisoner’s rights globally, with the ultimate goal of prison abolition.

He currently serves on the Board of Exodus Transitional Community, Getting Out and Staying Out NYC, Just Leadership USA, Leap Confronting Conflict, and the Responsible Business Initiative for Justice.

He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
