The Shannon Company Retains Respect Victoria Account

Behaviour Change specialists, The Shannon Company, will continue at the forefront of communication efforts to prevent family violence and violence against women, after being reappointed by Respect Victoria.

The Shannon Company initially won the high profile role at tender in 2016, and the re-appointment follows a further tender recently completed.

Respect Victoria is an organisation dedicated to the primary prevention of all forms of family violence and violence against women and was established in line with key recommendations from the first ever Royal Commission into family violence in 2015.

Respect Victoria CEO, Tracey Gaudry, said The Shannon Company had proven to be an strong collaborator in efforts to raise awareness of the drivers and different forms of family violence, and encouraging greater respect for women.

“Lack of respect for women is a critical factor in family violence, and we know that while we’re dealing with complex, multifaceted issues, we’re seeing encouraging changes that show we’re on the right track,” she said.

“The Shannon Company both in their work with us and through the very rigorous tender process, demonstrated their knowledge of the sector, and how to use their expertise in behavioural science to inspire change through all communication platforms.

“Our challenge goes way beyond simple awareness; it’s about understanding the complex drivers of behaviour and achieving actual behaviour change in things like willingness to ‘call out’ a lack of respect for women.”

TSC Managing Partner, Behaviour Change, Michael Daddo, said he was incredibly proud of the work the team had delivered over the past four years, and looked forward to continuing to tackle one of Victoria’s most confronting and challenging social issue.

“Through our collaboration with sector stakeholders and our own behavioural change research, we know that respect for women, gender and older people, and encouraging people to ‘call it out’ when it’s lacking, are keys to the long term and sustainable prevention of family violence,” he said.

“The renewal of our relationship with Respect Victoria through the tender is another indicator of the strength of our rigour in using behavioural science, and our creativity in inspiring positive behaviour change.

“Over the past decade we’ve continually enhanced our behaviour change methodology with the support of our partner, the internationally acclaimed behaviour change research institute, BehaviourWorks Australia, based at Monash University.”
