Meet The Women Leading Tech: Project F CEO Emma Jones

Having founded Project F at the end of 2018 and spent most of 2019 building the business model and foundations, Project F is now helping to improve the representation of women in technology.

The numbers don’t lie – some 56 per cent of women leave tech altogether, mid-career. Project F’s aim is to work with companies to reduce this figure and build a more diverse industry.

The business runs a certification program that surfaces the structural, systemic, cultural and environmental barriers to achieving gender-balanced tech teams and leadership.

Working with clients, it engages with CEOs or equivalent as the executive sponsor of the program so to drive accountability in delivering outcomes.

The program itself is a unique process involving a deep-dive audit-style data collection which is then examined and returned with a detailed roadmap of required areas for attention and change. Project F and Jones then hold these companies to account to make key change where it’s needed.

Alongside this program, Jones has formed ‘The F Factor’, a women-in-tech community group that has amassed hundreds of members and held multiple events with speakers including Aubrey Blanche (Atlassian), Tanya Reilly (Squarespace), Dr Kirstin Ferguson (ABC), Dr Catriona Wallace (Flamingo AI).

She has also been running another tech community group called Men Championing Change, which has over 700 members and harnesses men in tech to problem solve for gender diversity in tech.
