Nike To Start Producing Face Shields For Doctors

Like so many global brands, Nike is looking to help ease the pain of coronavirus.

That’s why the company has started manufacturing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face shields.

“Companies like Nike need to do our part,” said Nike CEO John Donahoe on a conference call announcing Q3 results.

“Based on needs identified by the teams and health professionals at Oregon Health & Science University, our teammates are working right now about how to best help, including prototyping face shields of OHSU and others.”

Nike is planning on launching the initiative with OHSU, with the initial focus on Oregon healthcare workers.

“OHSU is extremely grateful to the team at Nike for their generous offer to help OHSU in our coordination with other health systems during this unprecedented time,” the university told Business Insider.

“We are committed to ongoing discussions regarding their efforts to develop prototype face shields to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of health care professionals.”
