WPP ANZ Announces Exec Leadership Changes

WPP AUNZ has named the leaders of its campuses in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, and has appointed a head of corporate strategy, to support the company’s strategic vision.

MediaCom Brisbane managing director, Katherine Williams steps into the role of Queensland Group General Executive WPP AUNZ and becomes chair of MediaCom Brisbane. Williams has served as a strong leader for the Brisbane business since 2016 and was nominated in the “Women in Media power list” and “Champion of Change” awards in 2019.

Wavemaker Adelaide managing director, Matt Hofmeyer, who has been with GroupM since 2005, takes on the role of SA Group General Executive WPP AUNZ, whilst maintaining leadership of Wavemaker.

Steve Harris, Chairman & CEO of The Brand Agency, Perth’s largest agency and Perth’s ‘Agency of the Year’ for the past three years, has become WA’s Group General Executive WPP AUNZ. A well-established industry leader, Harris has been with The Brand Agency since 1997, and has led The Brand Agency Perth, Melbourne and Auckland since 2014. He retains his role at The Brand Agency.

Jens Monsees, WPP AUNZ CEO says: “Our campus strategy aims to bring our brands closer together to forge greater collaboration and help us better solves our clients’ challenges. WPP AUNZ’s brands are the strongest on the market.  We have the country’s brightest minds, best creatives and greatest depth in data and technology.  We are excited about bringing people closer together and the opportunities it presents to our clients and our teams.

“By having more of our brands housed in one location in these markets, and reporting to leaders in each campus, we will better utilise the rich and diverse capabilities of our people. In Katherine, Matt and Steve, we have strong, established leaders who know their markets inside out and will help us drive collaboration and growth,” he said.

The appointments follow the launch of WPP AUNZ’s three-year corporate strategy to transform, strengthen and grow the business. As part of the strategy, it has appointed Dominik Heitmar as Head of Corporate Strategy – a newly created position.  As part of his remit, Heitmar will work closely with the company’s leadership structure to implement and execute the company’s internal corporate strategy, plus drive strategic initiatives.

The company also announced a new leadership structure for NZ earlier this year.

WPP AUNZ has been trialling the campus model with great success at its 1 Kent Street office in Sydney, where 14 agencies have been part of an 18-month pilot to provide integrated offers and services to clients.  The success of this campus has created best practice for other WPP AUNZ companies who are geographically located with each other and who are now clustering around clients.

WPP AUNZ is working towards campus models across its entire operations, including Sydney, Melbourne and South East Asia.
