Study: Media And Advertising Employees Have On Average 97 Passwords To Manage

Ever feel like you’re innundated with a constant stream of passwords to remember at work?

Well, it turns out, media and marketing agency employees have on average the most passwords to manage out of any industry, with the average worker forced to deal with a whopping 97 passwords, according to a new study from software provider LogMeIn.

The next closest was telecommunications employees, who instead have to deal with a 81 different passwords.

As a result of the high number of passwords media and marketing professionals are forced to use, it is no surprise to learn the sector has the highest rate of password reuse, with 22 passwords recycled on average.

This is almost twice the rate of other industries.

So what’s the reason for all the passwords?

“Some industries may be more likely to readily adopt more technology and apps,” said LogMeIn in the report.

“Some sectors may naturally manage more accounts, especially Media/ Advertising firms that may be working with many clients and managing multiple accounts for those clients at any given time.”

As a result of all the passwords, LogMeIn also revealed that password manager adoption via mobiles has increased, with 23 per cent of employees now accessing password vaults on their smartphone.
