Revealed! AppleTV+ Price And Launch Date, Plus All The New iPhones

Much-anticipated streaming service AppleTV+ will launch in Australia just weeks before Disney+, and it will be cheaper too.

Although Apple’s streaming service was officially announced earlier this year, the tech company used its annual September announcements event, held in California overnight, to finalise the details.

The streaming service will be available in Australia from 1 November and will cost $7.99 a month, slightly less than Disney+ ($8.99) and Netflix (starts at $9.99).

Apple’s lower price point is most likely due to a smaller content catalogue, with the iPhone maker not having the same access as Disney.

Despite this, AppleTV+ still promises to include some star-studded original content, including:

  • See, a drama starring Jason Momoa
  • Morning Wars, a drama starring Steve Carell
  • A conversations series with Oprah Winfrey
  • Helpsters, a kids show about monsters
  • Snoopy in Space, featuring Snoopy
  • The Elephant Queen, a documentary following a species on the verge of extinction
  • Plus more

Unlike the likes of Netflix and Stan, AppleTV+ will only feature its exclusive content.

iPhones galore

Apple’s September event has traditionally been all about the iPhone, and this year was no different.

Apple revealed three new phones; the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.

The dual-camera iPhone 11 is an update of the pre-existing iPhone XR and will be available for RRP $1,199 from 20 September.

“iPhone 11 is the next generation of iPhone, packed with great new capabilities in an incredible design, including new Ultra Wide and Wide cameras for gorgeous videos and photos, the power and ease of use of iOS 13, and A13 Bionic — the fastest chip ever in a smartphone that quickly handles the tasks that matter most to people every day,” said Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller.

The new device will also feature improved water resistance capabilities.

Accompanying the iPhone 11 is the bigger and better ‘Pro’ versions, with a total of three cameras.

“iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are the most powerful and advanced smartphones we have ever made,” said Schiller.

“They are packed with sophisticated technology that pros can count on to get their work done, and for anyone who wants the very best device made, even if they are not a pro.”

The Pro versions will be available from $1,749 and $1,899 respectively.

A 12-month subscription to AppleTV+ will be included with the purchase of a new iPhone.
