TV Reporter Knocked Out Cold At Anti-Violence Rally

[B&T warns this article includes footage containing violence that some readers may find distressing] A Mexican TV reporter has been knocked out cold live to air while reporting at a feminist rally over the weekend.

The reporter, Juan Manual Jimenez, was initially heckled and covered in glitter while delivering his report to camera before being coward punched by an unknown male attacker.

The rally, in Mexico City, was attended by 500 people angry over reports that two teenage girls, aged 16 and 17, had been raped by local police in seperate incidents.

Why Jimenez was targeted by the protestors isn’t clear, but there were also reports of a female journalist being attacked and a nearby police station being set on fire.

Before being knocked out, Jimenez says in Spanish: “[The protesters] are throwing things at people who are trying to help them through different ways, the media.

“The whole world believes women, the whole world believes [these] women.”

Check out the video footage below. But again, B&T warns it contains violence that some readers may find distressing.

Following the attack Jimenez, who received treatment for his head injuries, tweeted: “Violence will always be unacceptable.” As yet, his attacker remains at large.

Mexico City’s mayor Claudia Sheinbaum later tweeting: “I requested the @PGJDF_CDMX intensify your investigations and actions that lead to the arrest of the aggressors to journalists yesterday.”
