Big Changes For Google Ads? Search Engine Spotted Experimenting With ‘Carousel’ Of Text Ads For Mobile

Nizhnevartovsk, Russia - March 11, 2013: Woman hand holding iPhone with Google Plus App and using tPad. Google Inc. is an American multinational corporation that provides Internet-related products and services, including internet search, cloud computing, software and advertising technologies.

Google looks to be expanding its advertising offerings after it was spotted experimenting with a new carousel format for text-based search ads on mobile.

The new ad style was spotted by marketing analytics company SemRush last week, in which a ‘People Also Considered’ ad carousel was sneakily added into search results.

One Twitter user was quick to point out the implications of this new format stating: “This is going to cost advertisers alot! High impressions, low CTR, less conversions.”

But some experts believe the potential change could, in fact, benefit advertisers simply due to the increase in advertising volume it enables.

In a statement, Google neither confirmed nor denied the changes would be made.

“[Google is] always testing new ways to improve our experience for our advertisers and users, but don’t have anything specific to announce right now.”

Shopping ads have appeared on Google in such a carousel format for some time now.
