Colonel Sanders Does A DJ Set At A Music Festival & Gets Fried As “Lame” & “A Joke”

KFC’s latest ‘ad’ has been branded as “lame” and “a joke” after the fast-food brand’s mascot, Colonel Sanders, made an unusual and controversial appearance at this years’ Ultra Music Festival in Miami.

On the festival’s opening day last Friday, a real DJ, donning a Colonel Sander’s face helmet, walked onto the main stage and gave a cringe-worthy and awkward performance that left many festival-goers confused.

The failed stunt prompted many DJs and producers to react on social media, suggesting there were other artists who actually deserved to be on stage instead.

DJ Marshmello said in a since-deleted tweet the stunt was “lame”, adding: “I can think of a lot of other artists that actually deserve to be on that stage instead”.

Aussie DJ Alison Wonderland suggested the festival “could have found a better way that doesn’t cheapen” what DJs do.

Louis The Child also in a since-deleted tweet said: “Given the platform you have as a major electronic festival, it would be nice if you used it to showcase what electronic music is about and not make it seem like a joke with corporate promotional nonsense.”

And, it wasn’t just DJs and producers who were unhappy with the stunt, with many fans taking to social media to air their thoughts.

However, others took a more laid back to KFC’s promo stunt.

“kfc & ultra woulda gotten way less heat (and more success) if they just made a helmet that looked like a piece of fried chicken and named the dj ‘fryd chiken,'” Josh Pan joked in a tweet.

Artist Herobust tweeted: “This is god damn hilarious on so many levels. I don’t care… I love it.”
