Former Sky News Australia Exec Starts New Career in Comms

Rob Raschke, former Sky News Australia executive editor, has announced his new position as executive general manager for marketing and communications with Springfield City Group.

Raschke made headlines last year for assaulting his wife in a bizarre series of events that included threatening texts and a purported misentered guilty plea.

Raschke’s legal team then made a reversal on that stance and confirmed the guilty plea: “on basis that he would spare his family’s feelings rather than being challenged in a court of law”.

He would blame the assault on excessive drinking caused by workplace stress, with his lawyer, Michael Bowe, revealing in court that he had been attending counselling sessions with a psychologist and Alcoholic Anonymous meetings.

Bowe said that his reliance on drinking came from the “heavy workload” that came with being a journalist.

The Springfield City Group is the master developer of Greater Springfield in Queensland, working through partnerships with corporations, the Federal Government, State Government and Ipswich City Council.

Raschke was a Walkley Award-winner and journalist for more than 30 years, joining Sky News Australia in February 2016 after holding a number of senior news roles at the Seven Network.
