Another One Bites The Dust: ABC CFO Louise Higgins To Depart

ABC’s chief financial officer Louise Higgins has announced she will be leaving the public broadcaster in February.

Higgins has been at the ABC for two years, and according to The Guardian, has resigned so that she may look for “other opportunities”.

Speaking to The Guardian, Higgins added she had “two great years” at the ABC.

Higgins was a key appointment by former ABC managing director Michelle Guthrie.

According to Higgins’ bio on the ABC, she joined the ABC in 2017 as chief financial and strategy officer.

It adds, “Previously the chief operating officer for Nova Entertainment, Higgins was also an associate director with Macquarie Bank and spent seven years working at the BBC in London in a variety of senior finance roles.”

Higgins’ exit means a total of five senior roles will be vacant at the ABC come February.

Higgins resignation follows the departure of managing director Michelle Guthrie, chairman Justin Milne, ABC director of regional and local Michael Mason and editorial director Alan Sunderland.

The news comes just days after both Guthrie and Milne were forced to face the Senate as part of the inquiry into the political interference of the public broadcaster.

During the hearing on Friday, Milne addressed Guthrie’s ‘360’ performance review, which was completed by her board directors.

Speaking to the Senate, Milne said the results of the review were “shocking”.

“The results were so outside of the norm that they were incapable of being ignored,” he told the inquiry.

“They were a source of enormous concern to me and also to [board director and now acting ABC chair] Kirstin Ferguson,” he said.
