Is One Of Ten’s Hit Shows Set To Be Reprised (But Not Necessarily On Channel Ten)?

Following on from yesterday’s news that Ten’s comedy show Have You Been Paying Attention? has proven a surprise rating smash – even beating the network’s flagship MasterChef for viewers – comes news today that another previous ratings winner for Ten has a strong chance of being reprised.

There’s industry speculation that comedy show Talkin ‘Bout Your Generation could be about to make a comeback after it last aired back in March 2012.

The TV industry site TV Tonight has suggested there is “strong interest” from one of the networks – not necessarily Channel Ten – to reboot the show. However, it’s believed that original host, Shaun Micallef, isn’t interested in a possible return.

The show – that regularly roped-in audiences over 1.5 million (a dream for network bosses these days) – made household names of its regulars Amanda Keller, Charlie Pickering and Josh Thomas.

A possible return would also fill the void of “family fun” so lacking on free-to-air TV, not to mention the show’s broad appeal to different generations.

And if Have You Being Paying Attention?’s ratings have proven, viewers want locally made comedy.

The TV Tonight article has suggested that Keller could take over Micallef’s hosting role if the show was reprised. However, that could create some difficulties if Talkin ‘Bout Your Generation moved to a rival network, as Keller currently hosts The Living Room on Ten on Friday nights.

In its heyday,Talkin ‘Bout Your Generation went on to win three Logies, including two for most popular light entertainment, while host Shaun Micallef won the 2010 Logie for most popular presenter.
