Is The X Factor Heading For The Chopping Block?

Guy Sebastian has poured fuel on the fire that Channel Seven’s The X Factor is set to be cancelled.

At the Toyota Star Marker event over the weekend, Sebastian told The Herald Sun: “I think the speculation is probably fairly accurate, it was a disappointing year. X Factor was always going to be a very short thing for me. I wasn’t going to do last year, and it came back that it was only a very short run, so I did it.”

Last year the reality program went through a major revamp of the judges panel with Guy Sebastian, Iggy Azalea, Adam Lambert and Mel B replacing Dannii Minogue, James Blunt and Chris Isaa.

However the show couldn’t shake off a viewer slump: In 2016, only 751,000 tuned in to see Isaiah Firebrace win the title. A slump from the 1.045 million viewers who watched the season finale in 2015.

B&T has contacted Channel Seven for comment.
