SCA Raises Whopping $2.5 Mil For Children’s Charity

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has managed to pull in a rather hefty sum of $2.552 million for kid’s charity group Give Me 5 For Kids as part of the 2015 appeal.

The initiative was first launched in the early 90s, where people would donate their five cent pieces to a Children’s Ward at a hospital.

Utilising SCA’s local radio and TV stations around the country the charity has raised more than $17 million since its inception.

The appeal is rolled out in June each year and raises money to support over 40 local children’s hospital wards and children’s charities from Darwin to Hobart, Gosford to Bunbury.

Southern Cross Austereo’s, head of regional media Rick Lenarcic said: “Over the past 21 years, Give Me 5 for Kids has given regional kids the chance to stay close to home and family whilst receiving treatment at local hospitals, through the purchase of equipment and provision of services from our local hospitals’ wishlists.

“Special thanks must go to our dedicated staff who work tirelessly throughout the year, not just in June, to make the appeal a success. We also recognise the generosity of time and resources from individuals within our communities who contribute to the appeal – without these people Give Me 5 for Kids would not be the success it is.”
