Latest Jurassic Instalment Proves Box Office Gold Raking in $US500 Million

Proving just what a financial boom massive ancient creatures can do for cinema, Jurassic World has scored half a billion dollars for the Box Office in its opening weekend, making it the first movie in history to do so.

Hordes of people flocked to see the fourth instalment of the Jurassic Park series and with massive dino fights, numerous faces of terror and a woman who spends the entire movie running in heels, the combination has set a new global record.

The film was only released last week, and per the BBC, the opening weekend brought in $US511 million for the box office.

It was the most popular movie to see over the weekend in the 66 countries the raptor-infused cinematic experience was released.

While it may have trumped many markets in terms of moolah, in the US Marvel’s The Avengers is still just ahead of Jurassic World.

The Avengers took $US207.4m in its opening weekend in 2012 in the US, whereas the Universal Pictures release of Jurassic World made $US204.6m in the States.

Check out the trailer for it below.
