Triple J Releases Star-Studded, True Crime-Themed Trailer To Encourage Hottest 100 Voting

ABC-owned youth radio station Triple J is riding the popularity of true crime media reporting to promote its upcoming Hottest 100, releasing a very clever trailer for the annual music countdown.

The clip, titled ‘Making a Shortlist’, features Triple J breakfast’s Liam Stapleton in the lead role alongside his co-host Ben Harvey.

The trailer also features a stack of local and international music artists, including Client Liaison, A$AP Rocky, Vance Joy, The Wombats, Amy Shark, Eves Karydas, San Cisco, Broods, Kwame, Steve Aoki, Vera Blue, Matt Corby, Dean Lewis, Jack River, Peking Duk, Montaigne, The Presets, Thundamentals, Hockey Dad, Brockhampton, Cub Sport, DZ Deathrays, and Meg Mac.

Triple J has also put out a blooper reel featuring some of the hilarious outtakes and stuff-ups from filming the trailer.

Earlier this month, Triple J confirmed it will once again host its annual Hottest 100 on the 27 January next year.

The public broadcaster caused quite the political ruckus this year when it moved the countdown from the traditional Australia Day airing so as not to offend Indigenous people. However, in doing so, Triple J upset some listeners and conservative politicians.
