Amazon Bags Broadcast Rights To English Premier League

Retail and tech behemoth Amazon has put another feather in its cap, snaring the rights to the prized English Premier League (EPL) in the UK for the next three seasons.

The EPL sold five of the seven rights packages on offer to Sky Sports (four) and BT Sport (one) in February, with the final two packages claimed by Amazon and BT Sport.

Amazon’s package, which will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, includes the right (for the first time in the UK) to make available a full round of live Premier League matches.

The company will get 20 matches per season from one Bank Holiday and one mid-week fixture program.

EPL executive chairman Richard Scudamore said: “We welcome Amazon as an exciting new partner and we know Prime Video will provide an excellent service on which fans can consume the Premier League.”
