Senior Ogilvy Creatives Made Redundant

WPP agency Ogilvy Sydney has been hit with a number of redundancies as it implements a new creative direction.

B&T can confirm that executive creative director Derek Green, creative director Russell Smyth and creative director of technology Mikey Ford are the three to have been let go, and were notified the decision by Ogilvy management a couple of weeks ago.

A statement issued to B&T by an Ogilvy spokesperson said: Following Ogilvy’s ‘re-founding’ announced [on] June 2018, Ogilvy Sydney has determined a new creative direction is required to move the business forward and therefore some creative staff left the agency some weeks ago.

“David Fox, CEO [of] Ogilvy Australia said during the transition period before new hires are made, the creative direction of the agency will be led by Ogilvy’s senior creative leaders.

“Announcements about new hires will be made in due course.”
