Wunderman Thompson has announced the appointment of Annabelle Barnum (left in lead image) as general manager of its Sydney office.

Barnum joins the creative agency from her position as group capability head, design and experience at Re Design (part of the M&C Saatchi Group), where she led the design and experience capability for Woolworths, along with leading other key clients such as CommBank, CommSec and Domain.

Nick Muncaster (right in lead image), managing director at Wunderman Thompson said: “Annabelle is such a fabulous hire, she’s incredibly experienced, smart, passionate, and driven. She’ll be the perfect partner to our business, our clients and me. Bringing this talented and wonderful person into our team, the Sydney office is in great hands as we continue developing our WT superpowers.”

Barnum brings to Wunderman Thompson over 15 years’ experience, working in a variety of businesses including marketing, digital and innovation, content creation and start-ups. Most recently, Barnum was responsible for the growth of Re’s Woolworths partnership from pure branding to brand experience, growing the team from four to 27 under her leadership and launching Everyday Rewards, Everyday Brands, That’s Today’s Fresh Food People, WooliesX and a rafter of others within Woolworths. Barnum also led the recent brand refresh for CommBank for Re – the first time the brand has made changes in 30 years.

Barnum said: “I’m simply honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the Sydney Team at Wunderman Thompson. It’s an exciting time to be joining the team, working with like-minded individuals and experts who are uniquely positioned to work with businesses that are ambitious and want to create meaningful connections and positive contributions to the world.”

Barnum’s experience spans Australia and the USA where she has worked with a range of clients that include Optus, Telstra, Vodafone, CBA, ANZ, Westpac, Microsoft, Tourism Australia, Westfield, Qantas, Samsung, United Nations, and Nike to name a few. Before Re (part of M&C Saatchi), Barnum held roles with M&C Saatchi, WPP, Imagination, GHO and beyond the advertising field as an Artist.
