the founders of Wisher Vodka, which built their Decentraland Distillery last August, launched a “Welcome to the Metaverse, Jose” campaign, In response to Jose Cuervo’s claim that their Decentraland distillery coming this summer will be the first in the metaverse,
Campaign elements include a meta-welcome sign in front of Wisher’s Decentraland Distillery, as well as a IRL (In Real Life) “Welcome to the Metaverse, Jose” mobile billboard that cruised through the streets of Los Angeles on Wednesday (photo attached) and will also roll through New York City and in front of Cuervo’s Jersey City headquarters and social media welcome posts.
In the letter sent on Thursday to the senior vice president of marketing quoted in the Cuervo press release, Wisher co-founder Kim LaRose offered to personally give Cuervo executives and their agency teams a tour of Wisher’s meta-distillery. He also invited them to one of Wisher’s weekly Decentraland parties and suggested that upon Cuervo’s meta-distillery opening the two brands should collaborate on an NFT project “between the original meta-distillery and the newest kid on the block.”
In the letter, LaRose also shared Wisher Vodka’s founding story: “About us: I cofounded Wisher Vodka after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. A great-tasting, lab-tested, gluten-free, grain-free vodka, Wisher Vodka is distilled from beets using vegan processes and ingredients, making it the most inclusive craft spirit on the market and one I can enjoy even with my food sensitivities and dietary restrictions.
“Wisher Vodka, the first spirit of the metaverse, is handcrafted in Florida and our beets are grown on family farms in North Dakota, but we can talk more about that over virtual cocktail in our Wisher meta-distillery.”
Heard you’re moving to the neighborhood this summer, @JoseCuervo. 👋🏻 We built our Decentraland distillery last year & host weekly parties. Come have a cocktail as we’d love to give you a tour of our distillery & show you around. Cheers! 🍹🍸#wishervodka #originalmetadistillery pic.twitter.com/czOAzc02HI

To launch the tongue-in-cheek welcome campaign, Wisher tagged Cuervo in a tweet that read: “Heard you’re moving to the neighborhood this summer, @JoseCuervo. We built our Decentraland distillery last year & host weekly parties. Come have a cocktail as we’d love to give you a tour of our distillery & show you around. #wishervodka #originalmetadistery.” Some of the retweet comments are pretty hilarious. A few even include the hashtag #nowayjose.
