After receiving the ‘like’ on her Instagram post, Natalia Garibotto (pictured) is reported to have joked: “At least I’m going to Heaven.”

According to The Guardian, the Vatican is seeking an explanation from Instagram after Pope Francis’ official Instagram account ‘liked’ a photo of Garibotto, who has some 2.4 million followers.

The ‘like’ was reportedly visible on 13 November before being unliked the next day, according to the Catholic News Agency, which said the exact time of the endorsement was unclear.

However, the image reportedly showed Garibotto wearing a lingerie outfit resembling “a school uniform”.

Garibotto’s management company, COY Co, reportedly reposted the image on its own Instagram account, saying the company had “received the POPE’S OFFICIAL BLESSING”.

While Garibotto, who is also a Twitch streamer, reportedly joked: “At least I’m going to Heaven.”

The Pope’s various social media accounts are managed by a team of people.

Citing sources close to the Vatican’s press office, the Catholic News Agency said an investigation was underway to determine how the photo came to be liked.

“We can exclude that the ‘like’ came from the Holy See, and it has turned to Instagram for explanations,” a Vatican spokesperson told The Guardian.

Neither Garibotto nor Pope Francis’ official Instagram account, which has some 7.4 million followers, follow each other—Pope Francis’s Instagram account, franciscus, does not follow any other accounts.
