Twitter Creates Cool Dude Koala Emoji For #AustraliaDay

Twitter Creates Cool Dude Koala Emoji For #AustraliaDay

For those hitting the tweets for Australia Day, rest assured Twitter has your best interests at heart.

The social media platform has created a new emoji that only appears when users type in #AustraliaDay on the platform.

A little koala with green and gold sunnies appears next to the hashtag, looking all cool and chill.

It’s already had its fair share of chatter on various news stations, with a number of ambassadors such as singer Reece Mastin using the hashtag at its unveiling in Canberra yesterday.

Twitter says #AustraliaDay mentions have increased 50 per cent over the past two years. Which clearly calls for a new emoji!

“Many Australians will be out and about on 26 January, celebrating the day with friends and family,” said Julie Inman Grant, Twitter director of public policy, Australia & SE Asia.

“This is an opportunity for them to be part of a national digital snapshot that captures the great diversity of our nation and just how colourful Australia Day is.

“Whatever you’re doing on Australia Day, snap a photo or shoot a video and Tweet it with the hashtag #AustraliaDay to generate the emoji and get your Tweets captured in the Twitter time capsule.”
