TV Reporter Gets Gloriously Photobombed At “Storm Area 51”, As No One Bothers To Turn Up

Continuing B&T’s fabulous run of inept TV reporter stories in recent days comes news over the weekend from none other than the US military’s apparent secret UFO installation, Area 51, in the Nevada Desert.

As astute readers may be aware, there’s been a festering social media campaign called “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop Us All” where members of the public were encouraged to gather en masse over the weekend and storm the secretive facility.

With a predicted 30,000 people expected at the event (two million had initially clicked “I’m going”), Las Vegas TV station 13 Action News sent top UFO scribe Joe Bartels to cover all the extra-terrestrial action at a tiny town called Rachel (the closest the military will allow members of the public get to the base).

To his credit, Bartel’s tried to promote the event as best he possibly can, but sadly the camera doesn’t lie and the accompanying footage shows about three people have shown up alongside 40 port-a-loos.

And not all is lost, right at the end Bartel’s gets gloriously photo-bombed by a kid doing a “Naruto” run.

And, if you’re like B&T and had no idea what a Naruto run is, it’s apparently how ninjas run in Japanese manga or anime cartoons. There, at least you learned something out of this slightly pointless story.

Anyway, check out the complete lack of action below:

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the US Air Force told The Washington Post that Area 51 “is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces”.
