Travis Johnson (pictured), current CEO of Mnet, has been named global head of mobile for IPG Mediabrands.

Stepping up to the CEO role at Mnet in Australia will be Scott Player, a long time IPG Mediabrands executive who has been commercial director of Mnet since November last year.

“Since Travis took on the CEO role of Mnet, the business has consistently created new international standards for innovation and effectiveness in the mobile space,” said Henry Tajer, global CEO of IPG Mediabrands.

“Having built such a globally recognised business there is no other executive more qualified and capable of leading our worldwide network’s investments and development in the mobile space. It is an extremely important communications platform that continually redefines the business landscape for clients and our network.”

Tajer added, “We are also very fortunate to have Scott Player in position to lead Mnet forward. Scott has been working with Travis on many of Mnet’s finest achievements and he is undoubtedly the right executive to continue leading the momentum Mnet has achieved. He is a most digitally focused and entrepreneurial executive and the business is it in extremely fine hands as he assumes his new role.”

IPG Mediabrands Australia acquired Mnet in February 2013, with Johnson becoming CEO in July that year. Since then Mnet has become the world’s most awarded mobile solutions agency, with 38 global and Australian awards won in the past 12 months. These include two Global Mobile awards, numerous MMA Smarties, a Clio, Spikes Asia and Festival of Media among others.

In his new global position Johnson’s core responsibilities will be to leverage IPG Mediabrands’ proprietary technologies and patents, mobile campaign management platforms, content management systems and social integration technologies.

As Johnson prepares to take on his global role, Player will take over Mnet which has more than 60 executives and offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. He will be relocating to New York in the near future to take up the newly created position.
