The Race Tightens For Who Will Be Carrie Bickmore’s Project Successor

The Race Tightens For Who Will Be Carrie Bickmore’s Project Successor

Since Carrie Bickmore has announced she’s leaving The Project, the rumour mill has gone wild, and we do take some responsibility for that…

It’s a wonder we get any sleep between Grimshaw leaving ACA and Bickmore bouncing from The Project.

B&T is obviously chasing this lead and, sadly, ending up in circles, but we do have some solid theories on who could replace Bickmore.

We’ve asked around, made some calls, sent some texts and definitely begged, and everyone’s being annoyingly tight-lipped, but we do have our ideas.

The skinny is that Kate Langbroek spoke on News Corp’s podcast and ruled out that she would be taking over from Bickmore. She was definitely being considered because she’s often at the desk sharing her opinions.

Langbroek said: “That’s a big job, and it’ll be fascinating to see in what direction the show goes.

“Everyone’s racking their brains to think of the perfect person, and it’s tough to replace Carrie because she’s got a very broad skill set in that she’s a journalist, but she’s also into pop culture, and she’s topical, and she looks beautiful, and she engages at the desk.

“That’s very hard to find someone who can live in all those areas.”

So, who do we have left?

Well, these are our Top 3 Contenders.

Sarah Harris

Sarah Harris.

She’s been around for yonks. She’s stayed loyal to Studio 10! Even after Jess Rowe and Joe Hilderbrand bailed and she’s managed to hold that show together with her effortless charm and down-to-earth vibes.

It’d be fabulous to see her take over the reins.

Jess Rowe

Jess Rowe

Now, this may sound left of field, but she was beloved when she did her time at Studio 10. She stepped away to spend time with her family, and she’s been killing it with her podcast, The Jess Rowe.

Taking over Bickmore’s throne could be the perfect way to get back into television. Plus, she’s such a cool force.

Chrissie Swan

Chrissie Swan

We have said it before, and we will say it again! Swan’s radio morning show recently got the bullet, and although she’s staying with Nova. This could free her up to take on more television work, and The Project is shot in Melbourne, which would work for her.

Plus, she minded the chair when Bickmore was on holiday! Not to mention she totally stole the show at The Logies.

Obviously, nothing is confirmed yet, but here at B&T we are bloody desperate to know who is going to take on Bickmore’s role.
