Taronga Conservation Society Australia has announced the appointment of top marketer Karen Madden to the role of Director – Marketing, Communications and Fundraising.
“This appointment has come at a critical time for Taronga and we look forward to the wealth and depth of experience Karen can bring to this role, particularly as we navigate the complexities of managing a tourism-based business in the current environment,” commented Taronga CEO Cameron Kerr.
Madden has worked in senior marketing roles for some of Australia’s biggest and best-known brands, including Woolworths, Coles and News Corp, and most recently as Group Marketing Director of Nine Entertainment. Madden has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and a Master of Science (Executive Coaching) from the University of Sydney.
“I’m thrilled to join the passionate team at Taronga. In what has been a challenging year for all businesses, Taronga has strengthened its commitment to the conservation of wildlife both locally and around the world. This is in conjunction with the work Taronga has done during the recent devastating bushfire season to care for wildlife.
“The recent successful launch of the African Savannah at Taronga Sydney and the growth of Taronga TV further enables Taronga to deliver on its vision of creating a shared future for wildlife and people,” said Madden.
Madden replaces Libby Hodgson in the role.
