Sunday TV Wrap: The Block’s Return Falls Just Shy Of The Million-Mark

It’s been running for 15 seasons and it appears viewers aren’t tiring of Nine’s The Block anytime soon.

2020’s return debuted to 947,000 viewers last night according to OzTAM metro numbers, which was down five per cent on last year (993,000). Yet, it’s a long way off the numbers it pulled way back at launch in 2003 when it cleared the two million-mark.

The Block’s return didn’t cause too many headaches for Seven’s Famer Wants A Wife, it still managed a respectable 864,000.

Nine won the night with 31.7 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Seven did 28.7 per cent, while the ABC pulled 18.6 per cent. With 10 not boasting an A-list reality show, its Sunday night numbers continue to suffer and it could only muster 12.5 per cent audience share last night. SBS did 8.6 per cent.

In the battle of news and current affairs, Seven’s 6pm news bulletin did 1.190 million. Nine’s version had 1.073 million and the ABC’s 7pm news posted 755,000. 10 News First had 239,000.

60 Minutes managed 559,000, Seven’s doco 7 News Spotlight: Catching A Madman only pulled 342,000, while 10’s The Sunday Project did 396,000.

In the battle of the afternoon footy codes, Seven’s AFL had 330,000 and Nine’s NRL pulled 251,000.

Sunday night drama continues to rate at the ABC with Vera doing 691,000 and Shetland posting 577,000.

10’s Family Feud did 293,000.
