Famed lamb lover Sam Kekovich has ditched the chop and thrown his weight behind Australia’s embattled strawberry farmers in a new campaign titled #SmashAStrawb.

The amusing campaign’s the brainchild of Network Ten’s The Project and sees Kekovich in his familiar guise promoting the fruit in light of the current nationwide needle scare.

Kekovich declares that while “there’s nothing I enjoy more than burying my ruggedly handsome face into a plate of Australian lamb” he equally enjoys doing the same thing with a bowl of juicy Australian strawberries.

“And if there’s one thing I hate or intensely dislike, it’s the Australian farmer being screwed over,” he says.

The witty spot ends with a Kekovich having a play at a “weirdo vegan” as finally “we can agree on something” over their mutual admiration of the pavlova favourite. Check out the fun spot below:

There’s nothing worse than being un-Australian and Sam Kekovich should know! Be a true blue Aussie, do the right thing and #SmashAStrawb! 🍓 #TheProjectTV pic.twitter.com/QmvdCaKSBn
