Proving the producers behind the upcoming Star Wars flick are teasing fans harder than a schoolboy boarder with a Penthouse magazine comes the cast’s appearance on the latest Vanity Fair cover shot by supremo celeb snapper Annie Leibovitz.

In yet another plug for the film – reportedly due in December – the producers have released a ‘behind the scenes’ DVD on set, including Leibovitz’s shoot of Han, Chewie and two new characters (played by Daisy Ridley and John Boyega) for an upcoming edition of Vanity Fair.

The Vanity Fair shoot also announces a number of new characters including bad dude Kylo Ren played by actor Adam Driver and Rebel Alliance X-wing pilot Poe Dameron played by Oscar Issac.

Already, a number of ‘teasers’ have been released to entice fans with new director JJ Abrams claiming in the article that accompanied Leibovitz’s shoot that he wanted to have the much-loathed Jar Jar Binks’ bones popping out of the desert in one of the scenes.

Abrams told Vanity Fair the latest instalment of the film won’t be all CGI effects and will still use some old-school puppetry.

He says of one particular scene: “We just buried it in the sand, and Neal Scanlan, the creature guy, pushed down on one side and the thing came up on the other side,” he said. “It’s so old-school and crazy. We could improve this thing, but at some point do we lose the wonderful preposterousness?”

Of Harrison Ford’s return as Han Solo, Abrams said: “[He was] excited to get back in those shoes again, which was really interesting because I thought he hadn’t been a fan. I kept hearing those rumours when I was a kid,” he said. “There was a fire in his eyes that you see in the movie.”

He went on to add that some crew members actually cried when they walked onto the set to the Millennium Falcon such was the history attached to the film franchise.
