Forgetting your umbrella is a problem of the past with a new product which alerts you when you are about to leave the umbrella behind.
New York-based startup Davek has released the Alert umbrella which features a BLE beacon chip within the handle that links to a smartphone app, which tracks the distance between your phone and the umbrella. If the distance exceeds approximately ten meters, the umbrella will send an alert to your phone.

It’s compatible with Apple and Android, and the Davek Loss Alert app is free. The alert can easily be turned on, off, or paused with a tap on the notification.
The only issue is the umbrella will set you back US$125. Founder Dave Kahng told Mashable that “Among the first concerns about spending $100 on an umbrella is that you might lose it. We realize that if we solve this problem, many more people would opt to spend more for a high-quality umbrella, than an endless stream of replacements.”
