Samsung Ads Bolsters Australian Presence With Three New Hires

Samsung Ads Australia has confirmed the appointment of three new key members of its expanding Sydney-based team, including Laura Wall [pictured] ex-Shopper Media Group, Luke Fox ex-BBC Global News, and Sharon Miranda ex-News Corp. This announcement follows the appointment of Alex Spurzem as General manager in July 2020.

Samsung Ads Australia began its soft launch into the market at the end of 2020 after seeing strong growth in CTV adoption and an increasing demand for audience insights. These new hires will help grow the business’s local team to drive new partnerships and awareness in the region.

Samsung Ads delivers Advanced TV advertising at scale on the world’s smartest connected audience platform. Its smart TV advertising solutions are built on a unique source of TV data from millions of Smart TVs across Australia.

Laura Wall joins as the new head of agency development for Samsung Ads, after her role as head of programmatic at global media agency Shopper Media Group. Her role is to build relationships with agencies and trading desks, helping them plan for rapidly changing TV viewership habits. Wall was previously a senior agency manager at Seven West Media. Before that she held roles with both Fairfax and News Corp, after returning from London where she specialised in sponsorship with Global Radio and Digital Cinema Media. She is also a member of the IAB Australia DOOH Taskforce.

Luke Fox, formerly the head of programmatic trading APAC for BBC Global News, has joined Samsung Ads Australia as client solutions manager. His role includes the delivery of campaigns across Samsung Ad’s Smart TV Platform, listening to the industry and expanding the current offering. He comes from an adtech and media background with previous experience across media agencies and agency trading desks.

Sharon Miranda joins as the new head of operations for Samsung Ads Australia. She has specialised in commercial finance for more than a decade, previously as head of commercial advertising and sales strategy at NewsCorp, and general manager of finance and administration at True Alliance.

Wall, Fox and Miranda will report into Alex Spurzem, general manager for Samsung Ads Australia.

Laura Wall, head of agency development said: “Alex’s background and what he’s trying to build here was the first thing that sold me. It’s not often you get a chance to be a part of such a great brand, this early in a market.”

Luke Fox, client solutions manager, said: “Reach, efficiency and frequency are a few of things that our ACR platform is able to measure. It’s an attractive proposition, which is why I wanted to join and help create something truly unique for Australia.”

Alex Spurzem, Samsung Ads Australia GM said: “I’m excited about bringing the best of Samsung Ads to our customers in Australia through the expansion of our local team. The combined expertise and market knowledge of these industry veterans will be huge assets to our business, enabling us to work ever more closely with advertisers and agencies to support their needs. We are always working to build out our proposition and help unlock the potential of CTV for our clients, and Laura, Luke and Sharon are the team to do it.”
