TV Reporter Vomited On During Live Fourth Of July Cross

It appears it’s not just Aussies who get uproariously drunk and throw-up on their national day judging by this fresh fourth of July footage out of the US.

US cable network KTLA reporter Wendy Burch was reporting from Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles, on the annual Ironman Run-Paddle-Chug competition that sees “triathletes” compete in a competition that involves swimming, padding and then skolling a six pack of beer.

Sadly, mid-report, one competitor bought up the contents of his stomach, landing all over Burch and her interviewee. Check out the beer-splattered action below:

Apparently, during the filming, some lark had put a bullseye on the back of Burch’s back with the words “puke here” written on it.

As Burch later recalled to the New York Post: “And wouldn’t you know it? Someone took him up on the offer right during the middle of my live report, much to the chagrin of me, our anchors and anyone in Southern California who may have been eating breakfast at that very moment.”

Although the action appears to cut soon as the beer-foam chunder flies, Burch said it was a fortunate technical glitch rather than the quick thinking actions of a producer.

“It was just a technical glitch. And while the anchors tried to regain their composure and go on to the next story. I assumed I was still live. So, for the better part of the next two minutes, I just kept interviewing drunken people, while sudsy substances flew in the air and landed in my hair. Let’s say, after that, it was a wrap. I drove home, took a hot shower and a long nap,” she said.
